another core memory unlocked
One of my hobbies in adulthood is unearthing childhood memories. I take it very seriously, got a Pinterest board and everything. This is one of those books I remember being enchanted by.
It’s always interesting returning to children’s books as an adult. Drawings that once seemed huge and detailed now appear somewhat crude. If you asked me to describe my memory of this book, I would have said the illustrator captured the rough texture of the construction paper and each individual glitter particle as if you were in the room. I still feel the same magic when I look at this book, but now I feel like I can see the magician’s secrets… shapes and shading!
This one (above) is my favorite. Peach is such an underrated valentine’s color. And that IS a snowflake!
If that isn’t marker on construction paper I don’t know what is!
